The Stereotype

Being raised in the untied states of america you are always told that this is the land of the free and, the home of the brave. That the american dream is easily accomplished by hard work and determination. What a beautiful lie this is. The truth of the matter is that, it’s fatal to be black in this country. Its has always been said that all men are created equal and have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Is this only true to those that don’t look like me? The difference is melanin. A skin pigment that blocks UV rays and block processes in the body that lead to skin cancer. It also blocks people from seeing who we are and only what we look like. It blocks others from seeing us as people. It blocks our names to thugs. It blocks our actions to violence.

My stereotype is being a black man so I must be a thug. I must be up to no good. I must be a drug dealer. I must be robbing someone or some store, but who are you to stereotype me? My life is complicated and let me show you how. Having the talk being black isn't about the birds and the bee’s it’s how to survive. Always stay clam, no fast movements, don’t give them a reason to end your life. Stand tall and be proud but always obey commands no matter what. This is the reality in america, that the people that swear to protect and serve are the same people that murder your brothers everyday. Now don’t confuse bigotry and prejudice with racism, because there completely different things. The biggest difference is that people who are oppressed by racism, die.
