How we Collected Funds for Edhi Foundation

Edhi Foundation is an organisation founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi who is known as “The Richest Poor-man”. Edhi Foundation holds a record of world’s largest ambulance service. After the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi, there’s a fear that the foundation will run short of funds. So we decided to put our efforts in order to collect charity and funds for Edhi Foundation.

We got the official letter from Amal Academy and designed volunteer cards and got approved them from Amal Academy as a proof, thinking that someone may not trust us either we are volunteering or we are a fraud.

So we 6 members of circle, arranged a meeting, planned things that how we gonna collect funds. One of our circle members, took permission from administration of UET Lahore and we started collecting charity from class to class of a department.

Start was not so good. We realized that people have trust issues. We also listened that in past several people did this but the funds were unable to reach Edhi Foundation. We didn’t lose our confidence and were quite determined. We explained them our working criteria. Some were quite impressed but some still said that we cannot trust as this can be a fraud. Anyhow we collected some amount from there and were happy with that.

The very next day, we went to a shopping mall (Fortress Square Mall) and tried to take permission from them. They denied and said you need a strong reference in order to take permission letter which is a process of one month too. We were quite disappointed by their behavior. Still, somehow we managed to collect charity in donation box outside the mall. Again there were people with trust issues, some even didn’t bother to pay attention to what we’re saying! All is not bad, there were people with kind heart too. They donated some amount and appreciated our efforts.

In the end we managed to collect a charity of almost 10K. We put all the collected amount in donation box. Words cannot express the happiness and the feelings we went through. There were several ups and downs but still we managed to collect the funds for Edhi Foundation.
