Only in uncertainty.

If there is a unifying thing I’ve always wanted to say, I haven’t found it. As with most things, it sits on the tip of my spirit, waiting for expression. If there is a reason I love transition, it’s…

Considering Both Sides of the Debate

This blog will be talking about accepting both truths. Accepting that whether you like it or not and if you play games or not, that there could be some aggressive behavior when playing violent video games. I will be talking about how this debate seems to be 50/50 and you shouldn’t discredit the people who did research on either sides. In this article from The Bronfenbrenner Center they help show that when it comes to violent video games even if you believe that that make you violent or not, they should be approached sensibly by kids and teens.

Because there is so much debate and it has not come to a clear conclusion on who takes the side, people cannot say that violent video games does make someone a violent or aggressive person. Saying that it makes you an aggressive person would mean that many of the gamers around the world would have cases but thats not true. The article called “Do violent video games make kids more violent?” written by The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research at Cornell University even says that it may even be decreasing aggression in kids. What this author is trying to do is prove that there may be emotional connections to violent video games in teens but the teens don’t become violent themselves. They are part of a research and evidence based research center called the Bronfrenbrenner Center for Translational Research. They say that in the summer of 2018 a team of researchers from the APA (American Psychiatric Association) focused on the media and government officials and made a statement saying to avoid connecting and having video games the center of violent crimes and other violent acts. They say large analysis show that there is not a link between violent video games and violent crimes because if there was researchers say “if violent video games directly led to violent behavior, the data would show increases in violent crime on a large scale as more people play video games. This organization seem to be one that back up with their statements with pure evidence from scholars and researchers and that their benefits to this is to be credible themselves. They pull credible sources from scholarly articles “Evidence for publication bias in video game violence effects literature” by Christopher J. Ferguson from the website ScienceDirect to talk about “publication bias” and that articles are more likely to get published if they say that video games do lead toward aggression and violence. The article then concludes their argument by saying that violent video games are not for everyone still and that “understanding each child’s needs” when it comes to violent video games they should be approached sensibly.
