Buttons and Blocks

This week our first graders were all about counting and number bonds! They split them, they combined them, they studied part-part-whole relationships — and do you know why? Because, number bonds are…

PANIC! The World Is Ending!

The end is near! The climate crisis, evolving pandemic, rising fascism, capitalism crumbling under its own weight and the foreign wars bring us one step closer to the end of the world. It might be today or it might be tomorrow. Perhaps this very minute even.

Such is the information we’re being fed by the Journalists and content creators. It’s not sure if it’s a deliberate act, but rage-inducing articles do garner more clicks than happy news.

A local man builds a park for kids, which isn’t interesting news but here’s a picture of a polar bear on a melting icecap so you feel bad about yourself for being the cause of it.

You caused it. Your selfishness and your unethical consumption under capitalism kill lives. Oh and disregard the data or whatever makes us wrong.

And check out this picture of an American suburb! Isn’t it depressing and feels illegal that there’s no grocery within walk-able distance? The cars must be banned! If I can live in Europe without the need for cars, so can the Americans! (Disregard the size of the country in question)

The combustion engines must be banned! EVs must be tax-exempt and subsidized. There’s no ethical use of combustion engines in the current era. (disregard the use of child slaves for mining cobalt used in batteries)

In short, the media profits by inciting rage and anxiety. The journalists claim to be the bearers of truth but they’re nothing but manipulators and profiteers. The state of the world is the least of their concern.

Luckily, the internet has enabled ease of access to data and news sourced directly from individuals on social media. Though, ragebaiting will exist still.

Man is a rational being. When he reacts to a news title he isn’t being rational but lets the media manipulates his feeling. One must stay rational and try not to react to an offensive or rage-inducing piece of news he comes across.

One must examine the intention behind the information shared online. Usually, the intention is to profit. But sometimes, it might be of political or personal agenda.

In the words of Nietzsche:

The Journalists vomit their bile and call it news
